Translocated acropetally in the xylem leads to longer lasting protection by controlling most of the stages of the pest.

Methomyl’s neurotoxic action inhibits acetylcholinesterase by covalently binding to the enzyme at the acetylcholine site, blocking acetylcholine hydrolysis, which causes hyperexcitation, paralysis, and ultimately death in insects.

KDPC METHO Insecticide (225g/L methomyl) is registered for the control of a wide range of insect pests across numerous field, horticultural, pasture and fibre crops. General Instructions, Withholding Periods & Resistance Management

General Application Instructions

KDPC METHO Insecticide is a water miscible liquid, dissolved in water for spray application. It is most effective when spray schedules are initiated on young insects. Use the lower rates on small larvae and light infestations, and the higher rates on larger larvae and heavy infestations.

Always add a non-ionic agricultural wetting agent such as Kendon Kendral 600 at 25ml/100L of spray solution.
Mixing: fill the spray tank ¼ to ½ full of water, start agitation (mechanical or hydraulic — NOT air agitation), add the required quantity of product, then continue filling with water and wetting agent.
Larvicidal use: apply at recommended rates when insects first appear and repeat as needed; use lower rates on small caterpillars/light infestations and higher rates on larger caterpillars/heavy infestations.
Ovicidal/Larvicidal use: only where crops are regularly monitored for eggs and larvae; use the lower rate when eggs are present and the higher rate when heavy egg lay or first to second instar larvae (up to 5mm) occur.
Dilute spraying (tree crops/vines): apply to the point of run-off using a sprayer matched to the crop canopy; concentrate spraying: calculate the mixing rate from an equivalent dilute spray volume, as detailed on the label.
Air application (Cotton, Soybeans, Sorghum, Mung Beans, Sunflowers, Pastures, Inter Cereals, Linseed only): DO NOT use less than 22L/ha water; turn off the spray boom over creeks or dams.

Restraints & Resistance Management

METHO Insecticide is a Group 1A insecticide; naturally occurring resistant biotypes may exist and could dominate a population if Group 1A insecticides are used repeatedly.
Effectiveness against resistant individuals may be significantly reduced; contact a local supplier, KD Plant Care representative, or agronomist for resistance management strategies.
This product must not be used in covered or protected situations such as glasshouses or greenhouses.

Precautions, Re-Entry & Environmental Protection

Re-Entry Period: Do not allow entry into treated areas for at least 24 hours after treatment. When prior entry is necessary, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent), a washable hat and elbow-length PVC gloves; launder clothing after each day's use.
Protection of Crops and Non-Target Plants: DO NOT apply under weather conditions, or from equipment, that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants, crops, cropping lands or pastures. Apply when wind velocity is low to avoid drift.
Protection of Wildlife, Fish and Bees: Dangerous to birds, fish, stock and wildlife — birds feeding on treated areas may be killed. Dangerous to bees — DO NOT spray plants in flower while bees are foraging, and ensure beehives are removed from the treatment area and adjacent paddocks. DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with chemical or used containers.
