Profile

Kendon Socusil’s strategy is to specifically target the areas for protection. (Eg:- buds & shoots) and repel snails away from these areas.

Socusil is sprayed on as a solution and then dries out to a thin gel film. The gel sticks to most surfaces and is not a re-soluble in water. It is rain fast.

Socusil creates a protective barrier that is irritating to snails and slugs, they are reluctant to cross the barrier.

What is Socusil Snail Repellent and what does it control?

Socusil is a two-part snail repellent registered for the control of snails on trees, vines, and wooden surfaces. It is applied to trunks, lower limbs, infested canes, and wooden surfaces such as pallets and farm furniture to create a physical barrier against snail movement. Once Part A and Part B are mixed, the product contains a buffered form of copper silicate. The length of repellency may vary with the surface type to which Socusil is applied, and can last up to 12 months.
Socusil is a two-part product with a different active constituent in each part:
  • Part A — 206g/L Silicate Salts
  • Part B — 28.6g/L Copper (Cu) present as Copper Complex
The two parts must be mixed together in accordance with the Mixing Instructions before use. Neither part is to be sold or used separately.
Mixing order is critical — mixing the contents in the incorrect order will render the formulation ineffective. Add Socusil Snail Repellent Part A to water whilst thoroughly mixing (recirculate the pump). After the solution is mixed, add Socusil Snail Repellent Part B and thoroughly mix. Use within 24 hours of mixing.
Socusil is applied as a spray directly to trunks, lower limbs, infested canes, or wooden surfaces — not to foliage. Per 200L tank mix, use 176L of potable water, 4L of Part A, and 20L of Part B. Thoroughly saturate the surface and apply to run-off. For trees and vines, apply a complete band around the trunk or vine to create a barrier approximately 50–60cm wide.

Best results are achieved where Socusil is used as part of an IPM programme — other measures (skirt pruning, cultivations, pellets etc.) together with Socusil will improve the overall management of snails. Refer to the Application Guide on this page for full situation-by-situation instructions.

Always download and read the current product label before use. This product is not to be used for any purpose or in any manner contrary to the label unless authorised under appropriate legislation.

  • DO NOT spray plant foliage such as leaves, shoots and buds.
